looking for Godfrey family in Ohio

I hope I am posting this in the right section!!

I would like to find out any info on family that emigrated from Liverpool to Ohio.

William (Billy) Godfrey married Elizabeth (Ann) McEwan  in West Derby, Lancashire 4th qtr 1918.

They had 2 daughters (one married an american soldier and the other a doctor), they were:

Doreen Godfrey born 3rd qtr 1919 West Derby Lancashire.

Edna Godfrey born 1st qtr 1922 West Derby Lancashire.

At some time during or after WW2 they all left Liverpool for America.

Then in Feb 1997 one of the daughters brought her mother back to England where she died in a nursing home in Skelmersdale aged 94.

Any help would be appreciated.

Do you have a birth date/place or parents' names for William?  There is an Ohio death record for a William J. Godfrey born 3 May 1898 in England with a wife named Elizabeth here:  http://labs.familysearch.org/

(This thread will probably get moved, as the lookup offers section is for people offering to look things up - no big deal, though.)

As far as I can find on info about William Godfrey as he married into the family is, his parents are Stephen and Agnes, and his middle name is James. They lived in West Derby
So it looks as if this could be him.
I wonder if there is any other family I could find, that would be great.

It looks like there's a listing for him in the obituary index here:  http://www.starklibrary.org/starkcountyonlineind  An obituary may have his daughter's married names, so that may help.  Instructions on making research requests are here:  http://www.starklibrary.org/requestforms  They also have marriage records, which may have the daughters' marriages:  http://www.starklibrary.org/marriage-records-1809-2002-stark-county-

The obituary is not on there - you would have to order it from the library through that request form.  Towards the bottom of that page, there are links for an index for notices from the Canton Repository for various years & he appears to be under 1953.

Still waiting to hear back from the library have e-mailed them once since sending request for obituary, but they said can take up to a month for reply, hope I hear from them would love to find out what happened to the family.

What a surprise a couple of hours after my last post saying I was still waiting to hear from the library, there it was the obituary.
Can't scan it as scanner playing up, but it gives me lots of details.
William J Godfrey, 55, of 1328 9th NW died in the Aultman hospital. He came to Canton from Liverpool 5 years ago.
Worked for Moock Electrical Supply Co. and was a member of The First Methodist Church.
Widow Mrs Elizabeth Godfrey, 2 daughters Mrs Maurice F Lieber (husband a doctor possibly) and Mrs Edna Hayes of Canton, a sister Mrs Agnes McGinnis in England, and 2 grandchildren (love to find who they were).

What a fantastic result more research for me to dig into now.

On rootsweb.com, the Social Security Death Index has Doreen G. Lieber, born 11 Aug. 1919 and died 14 Mar. 1998.  Last residence was Naples, Florida, & Soc. Sec. # was issued in Ohio.  There is also Maurice Lieber, born 12 Aug. 1911 and died Dec. 1985.  He last resided at zip code 33942 in Florida and his Soc. Sec. # was also issued in Ohio.

The Florida death index has Doreen Godfrey Lieber who died 14 Mar. 1998 in Collier Co., Florida.  She was born 11 Aug 1919, and race was White.  There is also Maurice Franklin Lieber, born 12 Aug. 1911, died 31 Dec. 1985 in Collier Co., Florida, and race was White.

I found an article about Doreen Lieber from the Naples Daily News dated 27 Jan. 1977.  It has a picture of her and gives the names of her 2 children.  It says she was born in Liverpool, Eng., married a US Army doctor, & came to the US in 1947.  I also found a few tidbits mentioning her & Maurice (she got a hole in one while golfing in 1976, he was the president of the Ohio State Medical Association).  If you would like me to send you these articles, send me your e-mail address in a private message.

Just thought I would update you, yesterday I made contact with my 2nd cousin in Ohio, she is amazed that I found her and wants to share lots of family history.

I am overwhelmed with this outcome, it's every genealogists dream, and i thank you for all the help you have given me.  Kiss Kiss

Just an update some Rootschatters may be interested to know I have found another relative who although lived in Ohio most of his childhood now lives in Woverhampton had a 3 hour chat on the phone and we hope to meet up soon.
He is going to send me photos that I can't wait to see.
So worthwhile when an obscure search leads to rellies contact, thanks to Shellyesq once again for her brilliant help.
