Hi (again) Sammy,

Do you have the 1861 census details yet?

1861
RG9/2545 41 41
Buxton, Derbyshire

Mary Brandreth, head, wid, 66, Lodging House Keeper, b. Cheshire Deansalloss?
William, son, 28, Mason Lab, b. Derbyshire Buxton
Elizabeth Hibbert, dau, mar, 23, b. do.
George Hibbert, son in law, mar, 24, Marble worker, b. Surrey
William Hibbert, grandson, 6? mo, b. Derbyshire Buxton

Unfortunately Mary is already widowed in 1851 and the 1841 census doesn't show a father either

Have you got the marriage certificate from 1860.
This should cast some light on who the father of Elizabeth was.

Hi,
Just in case you do not have access to the Census:-

1841 HO107/183/8  Buxton
BRANDRETH    Mary     45            not born Derbys  House Keeper
"                     Mary     14            born Derbys
"              William         9                 "
"            Elizabeth        3                 "
(other residents in this household not Brandreth name)

1851 HO107/2151 Folio 45 PG10  Buxton
BRANDRETH   Mary   Head     56  Widow         Lodging House Keeper   Macclesfield cheshire
"                    Mary     D         24   u/m             Buxton
"              William        S         18   u/m             Buxton
"         Elizabeth         D          13                     Buxton
Also listed is
and Ann Pyott  (I get Pyoll)  relative 7           Macclesfield, Cheshire
There are other people, but they are lodgers in this lodging house.

Free BMD  1844  there is Ann Harriet PYALL  Macclesfield 19 137  Birth Registration.

Living Next door is a Joseph Brandreth & Elizabeth  with children all born Derbyshire, Is this brother
or brother in Law to Mary born abt. 1796?

Just wondered if when Elizabeth was Bpt her father was deceased and this is why his name does not appear.

Interestingly there is also the Bpt of a Mary Brandreth 5.1.1796 dau of Jos. Brandereth & Ann
Buxton on the IGI
