1861 Census Request

I have a marriage of a Samuel Turner to Sarah Jane Hickman in 1857 found on the FreeBMD  page in Stourbridge Worcs. Despite searching I have not been able to find any census entry for them.  As far as I know one of their sons Joh Hickman Turner was born c1869/70
in Stourbridge.

Any help in finding the census for this family would be most appreciated.  Thank You

I cannot be sure as I found John Hickman Turner on the 1901 census in Barrow in Furness Lancashire which seem to indicare he was born 1870  Stourbridge. This family seem to have used the maiden surname of the mother and that is why I looked fora Hickman /Turner marriage on the BMDs and found the one in Stourbridge.  I will look at the one you have suggested to see if it could t

Do you have a copy of the 1857 marriage cert showing their respective ages and their fathers names

This will enable us to check earlier censuses for their birthplaces

There is a Sarah Jane Hickman on the 1851 b. 1838 Staffs. Sedgley.

There are Samuel and Sarah Jane Turner on 1861 and 1871 census (so far, not checked others) both both Sedgley.

Are you sure that Samuel and Sarah were the parents of John ?  

He was registered Q4. 1869 Stourbridge  Vol 6c. P. 195

Do you have a copy of John's marriage cert confirming his father was Samuel or are you assuming the 1857 marriage is the right parents because of the Hickman name

Thank you both for yur help  Iam afraid that when I found the Sarah Jane Hinkman and Samuel TUrner marriage in Stourbridge I just made a guess that they could be the parents of the John H b 1869

Maybe one can get in trouble assuming and should really pbtain a marriage cert before being certain

I do have access to the census so will be able to look at those you have sent.  There seemed to be quite a number of John Hickman Turners and perhaps I was over optimistic in thinking that they would still be in Stourbride for census info

There seems to be a lead and then another question comes with it.  I have a family called Marsh and seldom do they show up with the correct spelling of the name

There seems to have been only one birth registration for a John Hickman Turner, as found in Stourbridge,  and only one marriage for a John Hickman Turner  - in Barrow in Furness  in 1892.

The Sarah J and Samuel Turner from Sedgley do seem to have had a son John - but he was born c. 1858  Huh
