I am trying to locate Flexford Farm which was still a working farm in 1909. Does anyone know if the farm still exists and if there is a gate nearby called 'Hoskins Gate'?
Any help much appreciated.

Hi Annz
I think that you will find that Flexford Farm and Flexford Lane are both located near Sway. I am not sure about Hoskin's Gate. Can you supply further details and I will have a look for you.

There is also a Flexford near Chandlers Ford and North Baddesley. The farm does not seem to exist, although there is a Flexford Road with a Manor Farm on it still.

Good find, ricky, although I still can't see it on a map anywhere.
Perhaps I should put my glasses on

Must admit I carnt find it on a map, but this is from the 1881 census
http://homepage.ntlworld.com/sandra.s/1881Census.html
which looks like it is somewhere near to Baddesley Road/Flexford Road and Knightwood Road on a modern map

I think I have found it on an old map, its just below the Castlehill farm, you'll need a magnifying glass to read it

Thank you for all your help. Does anyone know if either Flexford Farm or Hoskins Gate is still there today?
Many thanks again

I have just acquired a small sketchbook mostly relating to the First World War. One small watercolour painted by H Hoskins,Flexford Farm, Baddesley. Dated March 19th 1918. Titled Reaping the corn and features three working horses and driver pulling a reaping machine across a field of wheat. Please contact if further information required, Simon.
