David, son of Stewart of Garth??
« on: Thursday 02 April 09 13:07 UTC (UK) »

Can anyone help?
I have the following but without dates, can anyone apply the dates please?

David, son of Stewart of Garth,
Robert of Urrard & Fincastle,
John of Urrard,
James of Fincastle,
James 2nd of Fincastle,
married Margaret Carwood,
and,
James Stewart 1st of Ladywell.

they appear to run as father son from David to James.
If you can help with birth and perhaps death dates, we would be greatful.

There is a submitted entry on the IGI, for the birth of Margaret Carwood about 1549, spouse of Stewart, marriage at Holyrood.

There are plenty of references to a favoured Lady of the bedchamber to Mary Queen of Scots of that name, and the ball which celebrated her marriage (during which Bothwell was up to no good!)

This could prove useful to you

It is a list of Stewarts compiled by David Stewart of Garth in 1817.

Hope this helps
