illegible document
« on: Wednesday 13 May 09 21:48 UTC (UK) »

I wonder if anyone can decipher the place of birth for my great grandfather on this marriage certificate from November 1855.  His name was Terence Foley.  I am assuming the County is Leitrim by process of elimination only.  I would be so grateful for any ideas.

Hi Ruthsarah

Welcome to Rootschat - could it possibly be Kilroney?

Thank you for that Jaylay.  I'll take another close look and investigate.  I do think the county must be Leitrim.  To me the town looked like Kilmory or Kilomery, but it may be the registrar in Scotland just did a "sounds like".  I know there's a Kilmore.  is that ever pronounced Kilmory?
Thanks again Jaylay.

Hi Ruthsarah

I also think the county is Leitrim.  I have never heard of Kilmore pronounced as Kilmory, but discount nothing until you're sure!

Good luck with your research

Hello Ruthsarah,
Could it possibly be Killanummery or a variation of the name
