Hi,
I am seeking information on Robert Coombs, born 9.10.1829 in Mappowder, Dorset. Came to Australia and married. Parents listed on mariage cert. Robert Coombs and Elizabeth nee Bowering. Any help woul be greatly appreciated.

The Dorset Online Parish Clerk site (www.opcdorset.com) has a baptism for Robert Coombs on the Mappowder page:
9 Oct 1829 Robert parents: Robert and Elizabeth Coombs. Robert shown as a Carrier.
There is a gap in marriage records but the online parish clerk is offering a look-up; contact details on the Mappowder page.
Other baptisms shown for children of Robert & Elizabeth Coombs:

Kerry, I am today writing the Coombs story for my tree story. Robert Coombs 1829 married Eliz
Robert Coombs was born – 9th October 1829 in Mappowder, Dorsetshire. He died 1st June 1922 in Molong, NSW. Robert was a gold miner and then a farmer.
Children:
1. Robert – Born 1st September 1868 at Tambaroora. Robert married Frances Sophia Anderson in 1901 at Tambaroora. They had 3 children – Robert Blair, Edna Mona and Marie Elizabeth. Robert died on 14th January 1946 at Wollongong, aged 77.
2. Elizabeth – Born 17th July 1870 at Tambaroora. Elizabeth married John Martin in 1892 at Orange. Elizabeth died on 25th August 1957, aged 87.
3. Jane – Born 12th June 1872 at Tambaroora. Jane married Arthur H A Petrie in 1909 at Molong. Jane died on 6th May 1956 at Manly, aged 84.
4. Emily – Born 14th June 1874 in Tambaroora, and died 1956 in Manly, NSW. Emily married John Allen Eggleston in 1902.
5. James – Born 23rd July 1876 at Waldergrove, and died 21st October 1964, aged 88. James is burried at
Molong. James married Laura Elizabeth Horton in 1914
at Molong. They had 7 children – Reginald, Douglas, Hazel, Darcy, Eveline, Victor and Maxwell.
6. Edith – Born 8th May 1878 at Waldergrove, and died on 2nd December 1963. Edith married Sydney H Cousins in 1907.
7. Christina (Annie) – Born 24th December 1883, at Waldergrove, and died on 4th October 1954 aged 71. Annie married Nicholas Quirk in 1904 at Rockley. Annie is buried at Molong.
8. Grace Penrose – Born 8th January 1885 at Waldergrove, and died, at Orange, on 17th February 1943, aged 57. Grace is buried at Molong. Grace married George H Hutchinson in 1905 at Orange. They had ? children – Hilda, Edith
9. William – Born 10th May 1880 at Waldergrove. He died on 1st April 1905. He was 25 years of age.
abeth Thomas at Tambaroora and had 9 children.

Hi Tony,
How pleased I was when I logged on today to receive your post. 
Have looked quickly thru' your Coombs names and dates - I see a couple that I differ on, not to say you are incorrect - I may have wrong info., but some need clarifying. Where do you fit in the Coombs tree?
I am on the Emily Coombs/John Eggleston branch and have loads of info re. this branch which I would be happy to share. And would love to expand my info. on the other branches.
Also have some faded snaps of the Robert and Elizabeth and their 9 children.
I am in NSW and wait (not so patiently) to hear from you I have to say, I am quite addicted to this family history stuff!

Great news Kerry,I am down line of Elizabeth and John Matrin.
There are a lot of people doing their bit on Robert's family. I have a Hill End Historic site,settlers archives map of the Coombs tree as affected the Eggleston side submitted by Mrs H V Hayman (nee Eggleston) of Neutral Bay. I copied this about 25 yrs ago. Are you of this family? I have never used this site before,so how can we make direct contact without the world knowing??
