Hello Rootschatters!
I wondered if anyone could help me with the parents of Thomas Vennen, who according to his naval service record was born in Linkinhorne on 12th August 1821.
I have looked at the Cornwall registers online but can't find anything.
Any help would be much appreciated

Yes, that is him. Thank you for looking up the details.
What I am stuck on is his parents' names. His father wasn't listed on his service record and I have the date of birth and place from these records, but that's as far as I can get!!

hello trying to find the marriage certificate by the sound of it you do not have it. This would find the fathers name

Hello folks
Thank you for all your help with this.
However, I have all the details of Thomas etc. going forward, thanks to previous postings and some research on my part, but I am trying, from his birth record, to find his parents and find out where the family came from, and whether I can go back any further in time.
I managed to find his birth date and place of birth (Linkinshorne) from his RN records so I am hoping to find the "official" parish record giving me his mother's maiden name (possibly) and his father's name, or his parents' marriage details.

I have searched the Cornwall records online but can't find anything. This could be because Vennen seems to have been spelled several different ways in various records!

I echo Pam's advice of getting his marriage certificate. How would you know you have the correct baptism if you don't have confirmation of father's name & occupation form marriage cert?
