With the 1911 for the first time, we are seeing what the householder wrote, rather than the enumerators' version of what the householders wrote. So, if you've looked at the original rather than the transcription, and it says Neath, that's what the person who filled out the form (look for signature in bottom right corner) thought was correct, or had been told, or chose to put down, or....

Thanks for that info Just had a call from register office I sent for Mary Kingdoms birth cert They can only find one of a diffferent age but the fathers not John Where do I go now Help please

sorry, don't know what you mean by 'of a different age'. If they can't find the one registered between April & June 1885, you could try ordering from the GRO and using father's name as a check.

Or it could be that her father died when she was young and she gave the wrong name at marriage. It might just be worth going with the Neath birth reg and seeing if you can find a family that matches - from the mother's maiden name, possibly. She may have been illegitimate and invented the father's details.
