I have just come back from 2 days away, disappointed and broken.
I went to the Northamptonshire Records Office in high spirits and spent over 2 hours painstakingly searching microfiches and films and found absolutely nothing.
Before I went, I compiled a list of everything I wanted to find out. Took everything with me that id collected that I might need and set off. Booked a Travelodge at Silverstone (Not too far away), took my wife and took her shopping at Milton Keynes then headed off for the RO.
Over 2 days with petrol, shopping for my wife and accommodation ive spent nearly £100.
NOT VERY HAPPY!

It's that time of year again!

I sympathise! It is so disappointing after all the effort of getting organised for the big day and then a big fat zero. I live abroad and have only once got to an RO but in my case the chairs were to blame. So uncomfortable my back pain kicked in and that was that!
Although not the same I can understand your frustration. But don't give up, Good luck, Abiam

Ok. Thanks everyone for raising my morale.
Heres what I already have:
William Stevenson b.1790/1 in Weston d. 19/09/1861 Brampton m. Cottingham on 05/12/1816 Sarah Spriggs b. c.1795 Cottingham
(Firstly I realise more than one Parish called Weston. 99% it is Weston-by-Welland not Weston Favell. And secondly I have their marriage record and Williams death cert.).
Children are:
Thomas Stevenson b. 1819 Brampton Ash d.12/02/1905 Great Bowden m. Brampton Ash 21/10/1839 Lucy Smith
John Stevenson b.1821 Brampton Ash d.1895. Buried on 11/05/1895 at Desborough Parish Church Aged 74. m. Sarah Walter/Walters
Elizabeth Stevenson b. c1826, Northamptonshire. (Details taken from 1841 census so age might be a rough guide).
Things I wanted to find:
i Baptism for William ii Father/Mother for William iii Any famiily for Sarah Spriggs iv Baptism for Thomas v Baptism for John vi Marriage of John and Sarah Walter/Walters vii Baptism for Elizabeth viii Marriage for Eliz? ix Death for Eliz? x Info on Gt. Bowden Workhouse xi Death of Sarah Spriggs xii Other children baptised with parents William and Sarah at Brampton Ash
What I actually found:
i No-one with that surname baptised in that parish or surrounding ones ii See i iii Only found a burial in 1797 for a Hannah Spriggs (Is she even related?) iv Brampton Ash Parish records only until 1812 v As above vi Fiche I wanted someone was using it and writing lots of stuff so didnt disturb them vii As iv viii No trace (Searched about 8 local parishes) ix No Trace (Maybe wasnt Eliz Stevenson when she died, no marriage found) x At Leicestershire RO xi Couldnt find anything under Spriggs or Stevenson xii No one of that surname in Brampton Ash.
As you see I had an awful day.

Hi Vasquez....
Shame about the records after all the prep you had . As for the shops .... I worked there for 16 years and it seems small to me now............. I can be found in the library over the road avoid the shops now.
Ok .... John Stevenson & Sarah .. what is the first census they appear on as a married couple or age of first child?
The marriage seems to be Kettering Dec 1849 which at the time covered Brampton Ash. I was surpised you say they only have Brampton Ash records to 1812 which in that case does not help? Is that something to do with not allowing LDS to film the records for viewing?

Im not sure. But there was a really helpful lady there who gave me the details for the church wardens.
But as for John and Sarah, Miswritten in the 1851 census as 'Steveson' and miswritten in the 1861 census as 'Steaveson'.
First child was William Walter Stevenson b.30/03/1850, Desborough.
Do you need the other childrens details?

Hello Vasquez
Sorry to hear you had such an unsuccesful visit.
Do remember to keep a note of what and where you have searched so that you don't keep going over the same ground.
Hope you can make some progress with the help of the Northants experts.

Yeah I've got an idea of what I've searched, but I understood that I might not find everything I wanted.
But 0/12???
How come there is not even a surname of mine in the parish? Does that sound weird to you?

Hi again
I am not familiar with Nothampton parishes but some reasons why you typically won't find records where you expect
People marry in parishes where they were not born/baptised.
If they live near a parish boundary they may go to a more "convenient" church - need to check maps to identify distances, access etc
Were they non conformists? There will be separate registers for these. I believe that some denominations did not baptise infants.

Hi
FreeBMD has a marriage of a Sarah WALTER Dec Qtr 1849, Kettering Registration District Vol 15 Page 575 and one of the possible spouses was a John STEVENSON. The marriage certificate would name the church which may help.
Sorry tazzie, just saw your reference to Kettering.
