All of the members with only 2 or three post are rootschat extras so are classed as new members  even though some have been members for a couple of years if you know what i mean. For some reason haven't used the boards to help with their or others genealogy, and don't always reply which is very sad.Another problem is some members insist on  replying to a topic using P.M instead of the public board,a bad habit to get into.Because we are left hanging on the original topic Wink

Tati can confirm the following:-

You can send someone a PM before they have ever posted.

You cannot send them a second PM - nor can they make any reply - until they have made two postings.

Making three postings has no particular significance to the PM system.

I confirm that experiments have been carried out to scientifically validate Geoff-E's sayings Cool

I believe that non-posters can receive up to 5 PMs.

I see that Geoff-E (variations) is starting on his third non-marquessate (Congrats, Geoff  Grin)

The following is a quote from the RootsChat "Help" pages at:

http://www.rootschat.com/help/pms.php

"In general, there is no limit to the number of PMs you may send or receive,
(although we do hope you will empty your Inbox and Outbox regularly).

New members must make at least three postings before being allowed to use the PM facility.
If you are sending PMs to new members who have less than three posts you will receive an error message, that your limit, or allowed number has been reached. (note that it says your limit, although it actually refers to the recipient.)"

JAP
aha! that explains it, makes it tricky when you get a PM to your first entry though ;-)
