How very Blackadder (or even Lord Flashheart)!
After spending a whole day and finding nothing but ag labs, it is nice to read that some people can actually get that far back.
Without giving too much away, what part of Northampton are you talking about?

As for the rest of my family...After the Bl***y Frenchies nicked all our land and stuff, we gradually diminished, and in the 16th Century, the last of the money was left to a daughter, and not the extant sons, so from thence onwards we became members of the military, and the ubiquitous Ag Labs...
As for the Shire...Well...it is a very old manor house, north (ish) of the county town...

Well Son it seems you put 2 topics about your ancestral home.
I only found this one late morning.
It seems I had already guessed the place which you confirmed at mid-day ish.

Nice to see you yet again.
You missed all the photographs Hubby took, yet all the gang looked good.
Loved the 3 youngsters who joined in they were brilliant, even though one was in a American Uniform.

It is good to know that beyond the Ag Labs there may be something more interesting - not that I would decry the humble Ag Lab...... perish the thought

The good thing about my Ag Labs is that they didn't move very far and hence are relatively easy to trace; hence I have a line from 1540 - 1940 all lurking within about 5 miles of the original sighting; but our Suffolk Yeoman/Parish Officer of 1540 seems to have sprung fully-formed into the area, so I have no idea where the family came from.
But I must admit that when I look at the census and it says, yet again, Ag Lab, my eyes begin to glaze over.....
