UPDATED! Scottish burials - Brillant reference site
« on: Saturday 11 April 09 03:52 UTC (UK) »

I've just come across a brilliant point of reference.

It is mostly Stirlingshire but also covers much of Lanarkshire, East Dunbartonshire, Clackmannanshire, Berwickshire and Glasgow too.

For a small fee, it is possible to get an index of stones in the cemeteries below, ideal for libraries and Family History Societies.

However, if you know specifically who you are looking for, and that the person is definitely in a particular cemetery, they will do a free search of the indices for you.

Email info[at]memento-mori.co.uk

For a fiver, I got a full set of photos of a stone in Larbert plus a transcript of the MI.  Brilliant! Quality photos too - see below.

Well worth contacting.

Dave

Hi Dave,

I've used this service and have to agree that not only are the transcripts brilliant but the quality of the photos are magnificent.  Also, getting photos of the one stone from different angles to enable you to see every aspect of the writing is a big plus.

The index will be a brilliant resource for anyone to have in their collection, and most of all, you can't beat the price.

Regards,

Where is this website, it sounds interesting, do you have a link and how much for an index.
Any info would be appreciated.

Thanks

Hi,
There is no website as such yet.
Simply contact the email address.... info[at]memento-mori.co.uk

(replacing (at) with @)

Each index covers 2 or 3 cemeteries in the same locality.  The cost I believe is £10 for the index which is on a par with what I've paid for some MI books.

I've now had a number of sets of photographs from this source and am very pleased with the results.

Hi folks.

Following on from previous posts, memento-mori have now produced a brilliant site with searchable indices of the various cemeteries.

Moderator comment: additional posts - which went way off topic - split from these and currently under consideration for editing.
