Help please to find who lived at Benrose Bungalow, Amersham Common in1911.
I know it was the address of Mabel Arnold (housemaid) who had an illegitimate child on 18 November.

Hi

I have just looked at the Historical Directories site

http://www.historicaldirectories.org/hd/index.asp

and searched Kelly's directories for Buckinghamshire looking for Benrose Bungalow but without success.  However, I did notice while browsing in the 1911 directory that there was a Bendrose Garage on the common and the occupant was Ernest Forwood.  The site search did not pick up this or any other Bendrose in the 1911 directory but there were several hits, all on the Common,  when I searched the 1915 directory:

Mrs Barry, Bendrose Lodge
Ernest Forwood, Bendrose Garage
Henry Tozer, Bendrose Farm House

Good luck

Not sure what's happening here but there seem to be two threads running http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=374414.new#new

NB It's Bendrose Grange not Garage!

Thanks for that Shaun. What I am trying to do is find a connection to Mabel Arnold b 1887 in Eastbourne. Information on her son's birth certificate shows her on 25 November 1911 as housemaid at Benrose Bungalow. She had given birth to an illegitimate child on 18 November at Queen Charlottes Hospital in London. I don't know what happened to her after that.

If you do a place search in the 1911 census  for Bendrose as the street address, county Buckinghamshire, residential place Amersham, you'll see 3 entries for Bendrose Bungalows.

But I think Mabel may be have been in Eastbourne in that census...

Oh dear another senior moment but I am in the queue to have my eyes sorted.  Anyway, thank you very much for the correction Shaun.

This thread was started when Bigjon was try ing to get information ahead of the 1911 census.

Meanwhile blindly staggering on
