Remembering those care free days of childhood
|
Hi All
In my friends ancestry she has a William Gwynne whose wife Matilda is a niece of the above person.
http://www.rootschat.com/links/061s/
Does anyone have any family members noted in the will in their lineage.
I have viewed all the references at the County Tyrone Web Site.
T.I.A.

Looks like death of Matilda (Sproule) Gwynne: Londonderry Sentinel, 2 Jan.1847: On Tuesday, the 29th ult., in her 45th year, after a long illness, Matilda, wife of Mr. William Gwynne, of Strabane.
And possibly her husband William: Londonderry Sentinel, 2 Sept.1859: June 20, at Cincinnati, Ohia, U.S., Mr. William Gwynne, formerly of Strabane, aged 63 years.
A William Gwynne mentioned here in 1839 directory: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~tyrone/trade/trade-dir-strabane.html William Gwynne, bleacher in 1846: http://listsearches.rootsweb.com/th/read/CoTyroneIreland/2002-01/1011170123

I think Aghadowey you have just made mine and Rockford and more especially my friends Christmas arrive early.
Thank you so much for all the information you have listed.
I did have links to the Jamaica site so found him noted with his slaves etc.
I had also found him drowning, which meant someone else's theory that he was not as old as I had presumed him to be you have now clarified as he was.
Could you please give me the links to the information other than Co.Tyrone where you have found the entries listed.
Thanks you it is greatly appreciated.

The information from the Sentinel is not online as far as I know and Googling 'Londonderry Sentinel' will get newspaper's website not archival material.

Oh just for reference and Rockford this is the piece I found referring to James death.
October 29th 1840 James Sproule, Esq., late of Strabane, was drowned at Jamaica last August, when preparing to return to Ireland, after thirty six years absence.
Obviously Aghadoweys is much more informative.

It seems as though the link to Ireland has now been full-filled.
Therefore I will lock and write Completed with thanks.
