Trying to find gggrandfather and mother Francis Devine who married Margaret Bonar 15 May 1859 at Lifford Co Donegal trying to ind out where they came from.

You dont say if you have their marriage certificate/details yet. If not, then that should be your first action, as without fathers details and residences at the time of their marriage, it will be difficult to be sure any record that is found is actually your ancestors. Certificates can be obtained from : http://www.groireland.ie/

Thank you, I don't have marriage certificate I got the details from their daughter's birth certificate. They must have left Ireland and came to Scotland sometimes in the 1860s. I will follow the link and see if I can come up with anything

They were catholic, so no certificate registered. Also no match on LDS.

While they may have both been Catholic it is worth checking civil index in case they got married in Registry Office (more common than many people realise).

Yes, and it's quite possible that they might have been related but still doesn't prove a link to Francis Devine.

Thank you for all you replies.
You have been really helpful.
I think Frank was most definately a son. Frank's first born was Hugh my great grandfather and his siblings James, John and Mary ~ There is one strange thing. Margaret and all the family have a middle name "Aluna"? baffled.
