Hi, new to this..
I am currently searching my family history and have found that my grt grt grandparents the wiper family ran/owned the cock and dolpin for some years at the beginning of the 1900`s. I was just wondering if anyone had or knows were I can get any history on the place.

Hello Scotty welcome to Roots chat I have several pubs connected with my tree I usually start by goo..ing to see if the pub is still in use and if there is a local history society in the area you want if there is you can contact them to see if they have any information. You can also e mail the appropriate RO to see if they have a photographic archive or any reference to the pub then you will have to decided if you can visit in person or need to pay the RO a small fee for copies You may be lucky and find the pub still operating and then contact the present Landlord some are keen on the history of the house but sadly others don't have time or inclination to help Hope this helps Have fun with it pubs can be very interesting
oops a reply has come in it looks like its not in use bso ask at the library(local to the house) if there was a news item about it closing Trees

It was boarded up when I drove past on Sunday. Kendal Library may have some material - their local history section is very helpful. A

Hi, a gt.gt.uncle on my wife's side was found dead in the River Kent near Nether Bridge in 1904. The inquest was held in the Cock & Dolphin the following day.
