Reverend George Sutherland
« on: Monday 24 August 09 09:56 UTC (UK) »

I would like to find out when and where this Episcopalian clergyman died.

George Sutherland, born c1832 at Udny, Aberdeenshire, married Margaret Cruickshank, born c1851 at Auchterless, Aberdeenshire, on 6 Jun 1872 at Culsalmond, Aberdeenshire. The 1851 census - Student at Marischal College, Aberdeen; 1881 census - Clergyman at Wick; 1891 & 1901 Census - Clergyman at Portsoy, Fordyce, Banffshire.

Thanks for any assistance.

Hello Monica

Yes, I'm guessing he retired (or died?) in 1903. I have not been able to relate any registered death to him so far.

By googling Rev.George Sutherland's name I came across this entry. It's the death of his son George who died in the First World War.It gives an Aberdeen address for his next of kin.Hopefully this will enable you to track down the death certificate of the Reverand.

Fist and Monica

As they say in a certain part of Scotland - pure dead brilliant.

Cost me 5 credits on Scotland's People but I have his death certificate. He had a long life.

I had been looking for people dying in Banff but the family had moved to Aberdeen (158 Broomhill Road) where he died on 17 July 1920, age 87.

All I have to do now is uncover when George jr. went to and returned from British Guiana.
