The World War 1 - WW1 research project - Friends School Lisburn is a great site. Read about the History Department at FSL being given an old rusted tin box that had been retrieved from a skip in the mid 1990s. It contained thirty eight photographs and a series of over ninety letters and post cards dated between the 23 September 1915 and the 11 August 1917 which were addressed to a lady in Belfast.

The FSL site has a Great War database and casualty list which contains details of over 900 men and women who have some connection with the Lisburn area and died during the Great War. The area, roughly Lisburn Local Government District, stretches from Dunmurry in the east to Moira in the west, and from Glenavy in the north to Dromara in the south. These are individuals who were born or lived in the area or whose next of kin lived there. Also included are those who are buried in the borough or who are commemorated on one or more of its memorials.
