robertson parents/norrie parents????

Hi,

I am trying to find information on my g grandad's (Alexander Robertson) parents. On SP I have my g grandad's  death cert (1944) he was 70 years old and it says his parents are Alexander Robertson & Mary Norrie. My gg married Catherine Mcgregor in 1898  30th december at Middle Church,Perth.  

.. the problem is I cannot find anything on his parents. There is nothing on Scotlands people. Sad
and i can only think that my g grandad was born about 1874 perthshire.

if anyone can help on the robertson/norrie tree it would be very much appreciated.  Thanks.

Hi

Does his marriage cert confirm the parents names shown on his death cert?

How old were both Alexander & Catherine on their marriage cert and what was Alexanders occupation

The 1901 for Perth has an Alexander Robertson b 1872 Edinburgh and wife Catherine b 1878 Dunfermline Fife - his occupation was brewers commercial clerk

There is a Margaret Lightfoot aged 26 b Leith also in the household shown as sister in law.  If Margaret was unmarried - it would suggest Catherine was nee Lightfoot so wrong couple

hi

i have the info for alexander & catherines marrige.  Catherine parents are donald mcgregor and catherine stewart, i have done most of this side of the family tree and know it to be correct.  The problem is with alexander's parents  they are Alexander Robertson and Mary Norrie and i think that it was perth area that they married because that was where alexander and catherine was born and married.

...alexander jr was a labourer when he married but his trade is actually a boiler maker/pot boiler  he worked with barrels of tar

The IGI has a birth as follows

Alexander ROBERTSON born 16th Oct 1873, Dundee, Angus, father Alexander ROBERTSON, mother Mary Ann NORRIE. This is sourced from the statutory registers.

The IGI also has a marriage 29th Jan 1869, Dundee, between A ROBERTSON & Mary Ann NORRIE also sourced from the statutory registers

The extracted marriage in Dundee has the grooms transcribed name as "ROBERSON" which may be why it's not showing up on SP searches.

SP seems to have it spelt correctly as ROBERTSON perhaps it doesn't have his first name, just an initial
