John McLeod to America
« on: Sunday 16 August 09 02:13 UTC (UK) »

Trying to trace John McLeod b. 1862 Kiltarlity, Inverness-shire. (parents Murdoch McLeod and Barbara nee Chisholm)  He is in 1881 Scotland Census, age 19 yrs. Agric. Lab. - supposed to have gone to America. ..possibly between 1881-1891 Census, as he doesn't appear on latter in Scotland.
Think may have lived in America to start with.  but  he later lived in Vancouver.
On another part of this forum, (U.S. Lookups) someone has given me details of a John A. McLeod, 51 yrs. born c. 1862, Scotland, coming back from an Australian holiday on "Makura", to Vancouver, from Sydney, Australia on 23 July, 1913. His wife's name apparently was Sarah E. McLeod (maiden name unknown).  This seems quite likely to be him - can anyone help with more details, such as birth dates & names of any children, deaths of John and/or Sarah, etc.    I know there were a HUGH, possibly born c. 1920 (grandson?) - and have been given details of a Hugh McLeod, b. 1920, living in Westchester, New York at the time he enlisted in U.S. Army in Second World War. 20 August 1942, could be him.  Also a Barbara who was in American Army also during war, but haven't had any further info. on her.
