Trying to trace bapt.and parents of Elizabeth Lannaway,my 3 x great grand mother,she was second wife of Thomas Knight living at Reigate,on census her birth place given as Charlwood Surrey,year of birth abt.1810.I have not found a marriage,Thomases yougest son from first marriage born abt.1829

elizabeth Lannaway born 16 February 1806 and baptised 25 February 1806 at Leigh, Surrey to Stephen and Sarah Lannaway.

Good morning,
There were a couple of Lannaway / Lanaway families in the area at that time.
The below are the ones for Charlwood:
Lanaway, George & Ann - George 1813
Lanaway, George & Catherine - George 1800
Lanaway, Stephen & Sarah - Sarah 1811
Sorry, no Elizabeth.
The West Surrey FHS have indexed the Charlwood records + many other's on the Surrey Baptisms CD.

Thanks Bonnieb,i think the Elizabeth Kerry mentions at Leigh is more than likely mine,her parents are a Stephen and Sarah,the Stephen and Sarah you have at Charlwood are probably her parents and had moved to Charlwood

I would agree with that Tricky Tree, I looked on the map and Charlwood and Leigh are very close together.

Kerry i checked family search and found bapt.for a John and James to Stephen and Sarah at Headley Surrey,which is further north of Leigh.Theres a bapt.for Stephen Lanaway at Horley 10 Mar.1782,son of John and Elizabeth,marriage for John Lanaway and Elizabeth Knight at Oakwood,who also have son Simon bapt.Oakwood and a bapt.for a John Lanaway to Simon and Catharine at Ockley on 10 Aug.1760,but no marriage for them,or bapt.for Simon,nor can i find a bapt.for Elizabeth Knight at Oakwood,apart for one who died as a young child

They do seem to have moved around a bit. It might be worth a check on the a2a site to see if there are any removal orders for the family. http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/a2a/

Hello Bonnieb,i found these on Ancestry last night,Stephen and Sarah are the parents of Elizabeth born Leigh,it also confirms a bapt. for Sarah Edwards i found at Leigh,she had a sister Mary who wed a John Lanaway,but i have no idea if he was related to Stephen.This area of Surrey seems to be an hot spot for Lan(n)aways
