« on: Wednesday 15 April 09 13:52 UTC (UK) »

hello

Im trying to trace a Patrick McDonagh who married a Bridget McCaffrey abt 1873 or 1874  In Fermanagh. they had a son born in 1871 named Francis and at that point they were living in Gransha, They also had a daughter Elizabeth born 1872 in Clones, then another son born in 1881 also in clones. This is all i know about this family. Any info would be great.

Thanks

Hi,
A parent search on the IGI also gives a William born to this couple on 31 Aug 1864 in Rosslea, Co. Fermanagh. This indicates that they may have married before 1864 when Civil Registration for Catholic marriages started. If this is the case you will have to rely on church records and as this couple appear to have moved around this could be difficult.

Ladydeen,

In the Sacred Heart Church of Clones records, this couple had another child Thomas born 11 Aug 1879, the townland looks like Grievaghy(?), and the godparent was Anne Dolan. This might be the child you thought was born in 1881?
Indeed it looks like they moved around!
Hope this is of help.

In the 1901 census there is a Bridget McDonagh aged 50, a Widow, Roman Catholic,  living in Enniskillen Town.
