Hi to everyone, I am trying to find any information on Mary Cresswell c.1736 ? Derbyshire. There was a marriage the Samuel Baraclough c1733 in Horsley, Derbys. Sorry, I don't have any other info. Regards Bullamore

Hi,
The Marriage you quote which appears on the IGI in 4 separate Patron Submitted Items
3 state 14.5.1758 and 1 states 14.5.1768. The date and place of births given are estimated
so you need to see the actual Parish Register which is held at County Record Office, Matlock,
to establish if this marriage actually took place at Horsley and the correct year of the Marriage.
Phillimore states that "Apparently there are no Marriages between 1755 and 1769"
you can see this statement on page 1 plus his transcript of some marriages at Horsley on:-

The records extracted from the actual Horsley Registers on the IGI do not commence until
1767 the Batch Number is M055131.
There are a number of Bpt for the children of Samuel Baraclough & Mary Cresswell on the IGI, also Patron Submitted, it is important to also check that these are correct with the Parish Registers held at Matlock.

Banns of marriage between Samuel Barrowclough and Mary Creswell were published 24,30 April & 7th May by me Thomas Ward. The said Samuel Barrowclough of the parish of Denby, Collier, and the said Mary Creswell of this parish, spinster, married by banns 14 May 1758.

Just Searched the IGI ,
Baptism's Mary BarrowCLIF born Woodhouse, christened 9.5.1763 Horsley , dau of Mary and Samuel Barrowclif
Hannah Barrowclough 1.12.1760 to Mary Creswell and Samuel Barrowclough
Samuel Barrowclough 07.03.1760 to Mary Creswell and Samuel Barrowclough
there is also a marriage records in Woodhouse Horsley between
Hannah Barrowclough and William Bacon on 22.1.1770
(maybe a relative ? ... depending on how old Hannah was when she was christened it could even be Samuel and Mary's daughter ! )
