Hi Reg,

My name is Colin Brown (no. 31). All the names you mentioned are familiar to me. I think I am about the same age as your children.  I worked with Bill Bradley at BT and Richard Clarke was one of my brother's friends. By the way, I think you lived at #40 not 60.
You're right, the playing field looks just about the same - in fact I drove by it this summer, I was back to good old Boston for a visit. I even drove by your house and turned around in the square at the bottom of the street. Its amazing how it seems so much smaller than I remember as a child.
I 'd like to converse some more, particularly on the westfield avenue memories and anything more you can tell me about the bombing. Do you have any ideas on how can exchange email addresses without doing so on this public forum?

Regards,

Colin

Good morning Colin,

Nice to get a quick reply, yes you are correct it was No 40,age does some strange things to us.Had many a happy hour playing in the Square, also the willow tree area, until the end neighbour shouted at us.

Think i can remember your mum,you lived down from Ernie Payne, used to sell fags and pop,was he a tax inspector, was your dad on the railway,Mr Catlin and Mr Baxter also Mr Sykes were..

I joined the Army 1949,almost 10 years in HM Forces, when i returned Boston had not changed, got married to Margaret King in Revesby Ave,after the services could still not settle so went out to New Guinea and Weat Australia doing siesmic work, returned to Boston, then moved to Peterborough.

Colin,i have emailed the Editor of the Boston Standard with details, feel sure they ran a big story on the bombing.or if you wish i could put a bit in the Standard requesting anyone with info send it to you.

I have been to Canada, reunion, our radio mech when we were in Korea was Colin Peter Clay,he finished up as the Rev  at Saskatoon uni,he is 77 now,saw him last year when he came over.

Will be in Cambridge this sat,Boston on sunday.

I am 77 but still work a 3 day week,keeps me young.

You can email me here at work on (*)

or at home (*)     its through the tv cable network and is slow.

I am here at Churchgate Mon to Wed,then have 4 days off.

Will let you know if the editor replies, even editors are slow today.

Cheers for now,

Reg Briggs here in Peterborough.

To assist you HockeyDude, go into the profile of the rootschatter you wish to send a message to, sending a pm is one of the options there, just click it and it will operate. I thought the minimum number of posts to send pms was 4, but of course it may have altered since I was new. Was the Catlin(g) in Westfield Avenue, Maurice Catling, engine driver at Boston loco?Worked with him, but can't remember where he lived.
