Lost at sea 1921
« on: Saturday 20 January 07 16:58 UTC (UK) »

James Mackie died at sea on 19th December 1921 according to information extracted from marine register at GRO, Edinburgh.  The boat he was on was named Eminent, official number 131248, place of death Loch Snizort.

I have the information about the boat owners etc. from the lossiefowk site.

I am assuming it was a fishing boat, but might be wrong.

Can anybody look up the Northern Scott to see if there is a death notice or anything else about the drowning.

I know that James was married to Isabella Reid on 1st December 1911 in Elgin.  James lived at Cummingston at the time of his death.  At some point after his death Isabella lived in London and that is where she died. (Would there be a wedding photo in Northern Scott)

I have a photo of his grave stone.

I have checked what I can get from Libindx on line.

If anybody can add anything I would love to hear from you.

Cheers
Betty

Hi Betty,
Have you tried getting in touch with the Herritage Centre by email or by phone,
Graeme and Margaret are very helpful and there are things they have there that is not online , worth a try

Thanks for the suggestion.

I did mention this part of my research last year when I visited Libindx but did not speak to Graeme. I did not gain any more information but the next time I visit Elgin I will try and get a bit further with my research and hopefully answer a few questions.

Thanks for your time

Betty
