Astor, Charles Robert or Frederick George Astor OR Abnett

Hi,
Frederick George Astor (otherwise Abnett), my great grandfather was said to be South African.  His father as stated on his English Marriage cert to be Charles Robert Astor.  As there is no record of a birth in England or Wales, this would seem to be correct.  Frederick's name is given as "Astor otherwise Abnett" , he was born circa 1870 and was a widower when he remarried in England in 1945.
Any help would be very gratefully received.

Sorry we have no idea of his occupation, but have learned that he did marry in South Africa (name unknown) and had 4 children there, Marion (or marriane), Eddy (Edward?), Charles and Harold who late emigrated to Seattle USA.
