Thomas Keeling-Buxton
« on: Saturday 18 April 09 15:15 UTC (UK) »

Hello again
I am trying to locate the whereabouts of a Thomas Keeling in 1891 and 1881.
In 1901 Census RG13, 3269,folio 79 page 17. He is listed together with his wife Mary Emma and 8 children.
At that time he was living at 83 Bennett St. Buxton,Derbyshire. This was the family home for many years.
Looking forward to your reply.

Hi Isobelruss

Thanks for your info on Thomas Keeling (Kelling) this is the man I have been looking for!!
Now that you have found this info I will have to keep a more wary eye on the names written down by the enumerators.
I suppose the local accents confused them at times. Maybe the people they were talking to were not clear on the spelling of their names!
Mary  H Keeling I think should Mary E for Emma. Her place of birth is a strange one
It is given as Tad Marton in Ancestry and looking it up on google maps I can find a Lower Tadmarton near Clay Cross Derbyshire.
The info on Thomas in 1881 confirms that he was a bachelor. I have found details on Freebmd that he married a Mary Emma Chappell in 1884.

Many thanks for your input. Smiley Smiley Smiley
