Hi All

For three decades I had ancestors live on the main Dundee to Perth Road close to Errol. (mid 19th century) According to the census they lived next to a post office and Pitroddie Manse. I have been to visit Pitroddie Manse and was wondering if anyone knew where I could find any info about the old post office or any photos etc.

Hi Jim, welcome to Rootschat.

There are many useful maps on the NLS website, including this one

If you zoom right in on Pitroddie you will get to a black and white layer from the 1840-80s
The Post Office is visible at the crossroads with what is now the A90, near North Murie Farm.

Looking at the aerial view on multimap there is no sign of a building there now, although some of the other cottages shown on the old map such as Nine Mile Cottage appear to be still standing. The post office was still in use in 1901 as it is on the census, so there may be pictures out there somewhere.

Hi Jim
If you follow the link there are short books about Pitroddie available from the A K Bell library. I to had ancestors who stayed in Pitroddie.
