Full Civil registration began here in 1864 - so there should be a record.

Your can search the familysearch Irish civil index at : http://pilot.familysearch.org/recordsearch/start.html#c=1408347;p=2;t=searchable
 
and order a cert from the GRO using the refrence numbers : www.groireland.ie

thank you and yes I found it I have been searching 2 months obviously not the right places,The numbers they gave are not like the English or Welsh  are these numbers only to do with the Family search files.I would like to send for a copy but I'm not sure of the correct reference thanks Bernie

the details you need for the GRO cert order are :

   Name
   year/quarter                 (early registrations dont use a quarter)
   registration district
   volume number
   page number


all the rest are internal familysearch details

To order a birth certificate the name, year (or year and quarter), registration district, volume and page number from civil index is all you really need.
Many, not all, Irish births 1864-c1882 are in IGI so you might want to search there also although it will not list full details from certificate it will usually give name, parents' names, date and place (Ireland, county or registration district sometimes).

thank you both and yes I understand the numbers now I shall send for it,I wonder if you can tell me what is IGI is that another name for family search or is it another site I do want to do things correctly and get all the facts  Thanks Bernie

hello again I have found it asked Google and when I looked it gives his  mum and dad although Dads name spelt wrong  it doesn't state his mums married name though she is down as spouse? thanks a lot solved a lot of queries for me  ta berniex

IGI = International Genealogical Index which is a part of LDS site www.familysearch.org

may I ask you about the pilot.family.search.org site

Am I doing something wrong?, I am unable to view the images, once I find a possible bmd, can they be viewed or is it only available in the future?

there is currently no image view option.. at one stage pages from the index could be viewed but this was removed.

to see the complete details you need to order the cert - which is copied form the register. The index details are used by the GRO to locate the correct entry.
