Hi,
Have you searched for a death for him? On 1881 census Ann lists herself as "widow", living with children Sarah, Joseph, Elizabeth, Johnson and Harriet.

Hi, just joined the forum and landed right in the middle of family. Harriet Johnson was my Grandma, in the 1911 census she is married to Harry Wood in Leicester and her birth is given transcribed as Chorney, but is actually Thorney if you look at the original. The family legend (i.e no eveidence) was that she was married twice, firstly to a Mr Hallam. This seems to link up with some of your prior responses, I have more info and photos if you need it,
Steve

No, In fact I didn't have this many thanks. Harriet was a bit of a hard case it seems. The family legend had it that she left her first marriage to live with Harry, but getting married as late as 1918 was a bit of a surprise, she was listed as Mrs Wood in the 1911 census. To top it all when Harry died she married (shacked up) with another guy, go Harriet

Hi Zena, strangely I have none of those names in my tree, I have Sarah, Joseph, Elizabeth and Johnson as Harriets siblings and Ann as her mother, but these ancestors are new to my radar so more research is required my forge a link,
