Hadley/Monken Hadley - OSBORNE
« on: Sunday 19 April 09 20:45 BST (UK) »

Hi

I have found on the LDS site a John Osborne born 3.1.1847 baptisted 6.10.1850. Parents George and Ann Osborne.  Has anyone got the Parish Registers for the local church which I think is St. Mary's or can anyone tell me where I might purchase these records.  LDS say that Hadley is in London, the early census call it Middlesex and in 1871 they call it Hertforshire.

The first time I can find John is in 1871 where he says he is from Barnet Herts.

Any help gratefully received.

Pat

Welcome Violet!

Hadley or Monken Hadley was in Hertfordshire until 1904 when it became part of Middlesex.  All parish records for this parish are now held at the London Metropolitan Archives, though they should be available for hire at any LDS Family Record Centre worldwide.

Chipping Barnet or High Barnet transferred to Middlesex in 1965 but HALS still hold copies of the parish records though not the originals.
