Finding a grave
« on: Saturday 11 April 09 11:19 UTC (UK) »

My husbands great grandmother died in Hertford.  How do I find out if she was cremated or buried. If she was buried, how do I find out where it is?

She was Florence Francis who died 24.12.1933 aged 77 years at Hertford registration district.

I would be very grateful for any advice,

Hi there

If she died in 1933 and was buried chances are that she is buried at Hertford cemetery.  I would assume that they have long since stopped burying at All Saints Church.

I dont know about Hertford but Broxbourne Council's cemeteries department are very helpful and will look up their burial index and give you a grave number.  Try Hertford Town Council or East Herts District Council.  Whether they have the same sort of facility I dont know, but worth a whirl.

Cheers
