John Flemming and Mary Reyburn
« on: Tuesday 21 April 09 17:51 BST (UK) »

Hi, I am new here and have been looking for records of my family Flemming for years.  I have confirmed my ancestors John Flemming (born: 1797 died: 1889) and his wife Mary Flemming (formerly Reyburn) (no info) lived in Aghnamullen Parish, Co. Monaghan, Ireland.

I am trying to go back further from John Flemming but have hit a wall with respect to research.  I know it is a long shot but any help of guidance on where to look next would be sincerely appreciated.  Many thanks.

Hi Brent, I am also decended from John and Mary Reyburn.  Mary was born in 1803.  They married in 1825.  I also more info in book Beth Kasper published in the '80s but I do not have it with me.

I was not into genealogy until a month ago when I found out I was going to Ireland on business.  Long story short, two weeks ago today, I went to Derrygoony and found the piece of land where John and Mary were tenant farmers in the 1800's.  It was quite an experience.  I will try to find a way to share the details with you.  I have a summary of the trip typed up in word file with pictures.  I will try to post it and get you a link.

WOW.  I just got goosebumps reading your replies.  Thank you so very much for that info.  I am also very interested in that book by Beth Kasper.  What was the title of it?  It looks like you had a great trip.  I have only been to Dublin on business and could not get away to take a trip up there.

I think the title was something like the John Fleming and Mary Reyburn Genealogy.  It was something she created herself, had copies made, and sold to family for $25 a piece.  I doubt you will find it anywhere expect from family.  I sent you a personal message so we could exchange email addresses.
