Burials in Kilmadock parish.
« on: Tuesday 21 April 09 20:42 UTC (UK) »

As a lot of people on this forum live abroad, i thought i could be of some assistance in tracking down headstones in Kilmadock Parish (Doune,Deanston area) and get some pictures to send .
There are 3 main graveyards in the Parish, Old Kilmadock,New Kilmadock and 1 at the rear of the Old church of Scotland in Doune itself.
If this can be of help to anyone contact me on this post or by personnel
message.

I don't know if you know that the church no longer stands (apart from a couple of walls) but the house is still there.

Hello Kenny,

If you ever come across any Kennedys in your travels, any pictures or details would be great.

Basically any Kennedy who appeared at Kilmadock/Doune between 1841 and 1901 was descended from (or married to a descendant of) my 5 x great grandfather John Kennedy.

Regards,
Nel

John Stewart died 1876 and his wife Ann Dewar.
Jane McGregor 1870 was married to John Ferguson she died 1870 Kincardine.

Hi Mary.
Hopefully i will get your picture of the house at Bridge of Teith soon.
Was talking to a friend the other day who reminded me that there was a fall out within the church and a few of the congregation moved to the Auldlicht church in Doune including the Rev Hislop.

Hey Kenny is that my brother you are referring to? I saw him yesterday and he didnt mention that he had heard from you. What is it you want to ask him?

Nel - I am v interested in what you say about the Kennedys. My ggg grandmother was Catherine Kennedy. Her father was John Kennedy.

I havent been able to find much info on the family - she married Henry Donaldson at Port of Menteith in 1832.  It says "Henry Donaldson parishioner son of Donaldson Dunfermline and Catherine Kennedy daughter of John Kennedy of Carnock "

In 1841 the couple are living at Shuttle Street Kincardine. They don't appear on later censuses but some of their children do - living with various other families in Kincardine and Kilmadock.

A bit of a mystery!  Is this connected to your family do you think?
