Hi All,

I have a William Joseph Playle born in Bocking or Braintree on the 4th Sept 1819. He was transported to Australia as a convict on the "Bengal Merchant" arriving in Botany Bay on the 21st July 1838. His parents are William Playle and Rebecca Saville of which I know nothing. Any information regarding his parents would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

I would like to confirm with you that you are absolutely certain that this is the William Playle that arrived on the Bengal Merchant Smiley

If you Google Playle you will find a large family tree going back a very long way in Essex. You may find some of yours there.

Thanks for that Smiley
Easy to make a mistake ... I do it all the time Smiley
My PLAYLE's came from Stebbing and Harlow.  I seem to have been able to get the direct line down but have hit a stumbling block with my G. Grandfather's brothers.  I also think there may be a couple more judging by the gaps.
