Hi Kath

Well here's your starter for 10....

Nevendon Baptism entry;

27/04/1806 Ephraim and Mary Anne, twins. Son and Daughter of Tobias and Mary Playle.

I'll have a dig about for other bits for you, but I already know that Ephraim and Susan(nah) didn't get married in Nevendon.

Bear with me!

Hi Kath

There are 3 children baptized in Nevendon to Ephraim and Susan Playle. (He was a labourer).

Details as follows;

9th March 1834 Bettsey
15th May 1836 Mary Anne
26th June 1842 Honora

There's also a curious entry which may or may not be of interest;

11th December 1831 Susan daughter of Susan Plale, Bastard.

I'll keep an eye open for their marriage and let you know if I find anything else that will help.

Sorry, it's not me who has the Bocking registers, so I can't help you there. Nearest I've got are the Notleys and Cressing!

Hi Kath,
   It was possibly me, i have two Playl(e) familes. I have a Charlotte Playe b1803 app in Little Baddow, and my second family if Louisa Playl b1828 in Writtle and her father John b1798 but i don't know where.

   So far i don't have anything to link them to the Nevendon area.

Kath

I've checked through the Cressing baptisms from 1815 to 1823 and have drawn a blank on your Bocking or Rodgers.

Nothing there at all I'm afraid, so it looks as though you may have to look in Braintree. (As stated on their marriage entry).

Let me know if I can be of any further use!

If Eliza, Baptized 1825 is the one who married James Bocking, she is a little young.

But Daniel is not a frequent name,   And they are living in Braintree.

Hi Kath,

I am new to Rootschat, and found your request via a google search for Ephraim Playle.

I am researching my husbands family tree, and Ephraim and Susanna are his Great Great Great Grandparents on his paternal grandfathers side.

I too am having trouble finding out much information, but have recently bought a copy of Honora's birth certificate via Ancestry.com. This shows 'Sussana's' ( as spelled on the certificate ) surname as HOY.

I have done a quick 1841 census search, and found Ephraim and Sussana living in a cottage in Nevendon. Interestingly, on the census, living on what appears to be the same estate/farm are a family of "Hoy's". It is possible that both families were or were related to travellers, and were working on the estate on a temporary basis. It was very common is this area at that time.

I will keep looking now I have some more leads, and get back to you if I find out anything new.

As a matter of interest, what family are you researching?

Good luck

Sue

Hi Sue Welcome to rootschat

I am actually trying to research for someone else and it is Honora Playle and her Husband Samuel Wiggins.

Their son Albert Wiggins(B.R.1878) married (1896 Rochford R.D) Alice Peet(B.R. 1878)
Anyway I am just looking into the tree for them and I came across Honora Playle and wanted to add some more meat to the bones of the tree with finding out her parents and grandparents etc

How does your family fit in hunnie x

Hi Kath,

Thanks for your posting, you have saved me a job of hunting for Alberts wife.

In answer to your question; Lily Wiggins, one of Alberts older sisters, married Robert Bryant, and is my husbands Great Grandmonther, so my research starts off with Bryants.
