Frederick Garside
« on: Saturday 19 September 09 14:03 UTC (UK) »

Frederick  was my husband's great grandfather.  He was living with his first wife in Sutton Coldfield.  She died in 1916 and I believe he may have remarried (his housekeeper if family tales are to be believed) in 1917.  I have found a marriage to a Rosalin Agnes Webb in Edmonton in June 1917 and since I know from his death (Rochford) he went to Essex I wonder but don't know for sure if  this is them.  Can anyone confirm and say where they married?

He died on 29 December 1930 and this is registered at Rochford - any ideas on where he may be buried?  If Rosalin is correct can anyone find any death record for her?

Many thanks for time and effort.

Hi,

Do you have Frederick's death certificate?  Was Rosalin, widow of the deceased,  the informant?   If so that would probably confirm the marriage you have found (JuneQ 1917 Edmonton).

His death certificate will also show where he died, his usual address, and the address of the informant, which might suggest an area to start your search for his burial.

At that time the Rochford registration district covered quite a large area including Canvey Island, Southend, Rayleigh, Ashingdon etc.

Hi,

Looks like the marriage you found is the right one.  Smiley

I would suggest that you do an internet search for churches in Downham/Billericay and see if any were still having burials in the churchyard in 1930/1931.

Could he have been cremated?  There are 2 crematoria in Southend; if my memory is correct.
