You may well have made some progress by now but, if not and in case it is relevant, Wallace RIGDEN is listed as the father of James Wallace RIGDEN on his WW1 CEF papers and the family (including mother Caroline) appear in the 1906 and 1916 census of Canada saying having emigrated in 1905.

Casa,

I think you may have "cracked" the mystery! Your JW Rigden  could be the one I found in the list of returning Canadians who sailed on the "Grampian" ...
What are CEF papers?
Not too sure where I should go from here, but will now try to pick up the threads again & pursue the search.

Must admit that I have spent the last couple of months "running around" Sussex - Chiddingly, Alfriston & Hailsham - the paternal grandmother's side of the family & had come up with so much information that I had "dropped" Caroline!

Thank you so much and please don't hesitate if you come up with something more.

Ann

Annie,

We forgot all about this enquiry - what information did the James Rigden Birth Certificate give you ?

Who did it say his mother was ?

Regards,

Al & Al
