John Exall in Reading Gaol 1841?
« on: Thursday 23 April 09 21:37 UTC (UK) »

John Exell appears in Reading Gaol in the 1841 census and I would like to find out whether he is in fact my ancestor who was born in Sonning in 1803 and died in Longford, Middx in 1857.  Does anyone know whether there are records for the Gaol around that period, what they contain, and where they are held?
Thanks

If they have survived Calendars of Prisoners in Reading Gaol should be at the Berkshire Record Office in Reading.  Their email address is arch[at]reading.gov.uk  *
