Hello, I have just signed up and wonder if there is anyone out there who can help. My Grandfather, William John Green was born in Rathangan in 1876. His father was John Green and he married an Irish girl named Annie Kelly. John was, I think a seaman although I dont know if he was in R.N.
Is there any way to trace the marriage record or birth record? I would really like to know more about my Irish family.

Full Civil registration began here in 1864, so there should be a record of Williams birth. A searchable version of the Index is available on the Familsearch pilot site : http://pilot.familysearch.org/recordsearch/start.html#p=2;t=searchable;c=1408347

this is the best match that I see between 1873 to 1878 :

Strangely enough there's a birth listed in IGI for William John Green born 16 Oct.1877 Co. Donegal to John Green and Annie Kelly.

The info on IGI was stuff I had given to the guy that put it on, so it doesn`t put me any further forward. Thanks anyway.
I have E mailed GRO with the registration details you found for me Shane. They will get back to me within the next week.
I`ll let you know if it is successful. Many thanks to you both for your input.

No, the record from IGI is extracted not submitted. Perhaps the record you referred to is in Pedigree Resource File?
