Thanks, Liz, that`s super.
You may be interested to know that Kate my Grandmother, married into the Green family of Seaford. I have traced them back to 1550 and I still have a cousin living in Seaford. None of us fell very far from the tree.

Good point LKL (initials havent fooled me - I know who you really are!!)

And, seeing as Convent didnt start till 1903, and that she is 28ish in 1901 (not 19 as we were first looking for)

How about this as a possible for 1901

Elizabeth Alexander 72 living on own means bn London
Nellie Adams 29 friend First Class dressmaker bn London

Hi
It looks as if there is still a community of the Sisters of Providence at Annecy 10 Sutton Avenue Seaford. If you do a Go ***e search for Sisters of Providence Seaford you can get the telephone number. They should hold records of former nuns.

Hi again.

No record of her at Annecy in the 1911 census. It seems to be a school and practically all the staff are French.

yes, mentioned the school earlier .... wondered if the Nunnery was seperate or not or if the school staff were the Nuns ....... as they were originally a French order ?

Hi,

The best source for information about a nun is the "motherhouse" of her order.  That's where records of all the women who entered the order would be kept.   I've know idea where the English motherhouse might be but here's a link to what seems to be a large group of Sisters of Providence in England. I'd try contacting them and getting their advice.
