Halpins of Portarlington, 1780 - 1820.

Any information about the Portarlington School during the period 1780 - 1820?  Nicholas Halpin taught there for a number of years and I'd like to know if any local 'lore' exists in regard to him. Please post replies to the Halpin message board over on the Wicklow site.  Thankyou.
