Sarah Robson of St Bees
« on: Tuesday 19 May 09 07:55 UTC (UK) »

I visited St Bees last week looking for information on Sarah Robson (family) she married Thomas Evans/Evins on 8th May 1780, the church MI inscription list had no Robson's nor did the later 1841 census.
I would like to know her birth/parents, can anyone help

Hi

I found a Sarah Robson on IGI born on 8 July 1752 at St Nicholas church, Whitehaven, with Joseph Robson as her father.  Whitehaven was included in the parish of St Bees back then, and is only down the road really.

There is also

Mary Robson, born 20 Sept 1789 at St Bees, mother - Betty Robson.

Joseph Robson, b 10 December 1773 at St Bees, father - Daniel Robson

Jane Robson, b 14 March 1796 at St Bees.  Father - John Robson, mother - Margaret

There is also a Sarah Robson born 2 July 1750 at Sebergham, Cumberland.  Father Isaac, mother Sarah.

Sebergham is nearer to Carlisle than Whitehaven, so I think the Whitehaven one is your best bet.  I know IGI isn't 100% reliable, but it's another route to take Smiley

Hope it helps

Rosemary

Thanks Rosemary

Robson is not an uncommon name, not sure that I will get a link to directly connect Sarah to a particular family, within a year of being married she was living in the gateshead area, where her son,  William was born 1781 followed by my gggg grandfather Robson Evans in 1782
Sarah died in 1794
