My mother was a Taylor of Heath and Reach, descended from a Daniel Taylor of Studham who was christened in Luton on 24 Aug 1701. His father, John Taylor, was a wheelwright in Luton, described in the burial register (4 Dec 1733) as "a rich man". He gave generously to his other sons, John, Thomas, Henry and Gabriel, but poor Daniel was cut off with the proverbial shilling. I cannot find the parents of this John Taylor. Does anyone know the family?

There is a John TAYLOR christened 8 October 1682, Luton, Bedford Parents, Charles and Frances
Charles Taylor married Francis TOMES 3 February 1680, Luton
There is more than one John Taylor having children in Luton early 1700's so hopefully this is your one
Think these are yours;
Gabriel , 28 July 1710, Luton, Father John Hen. , 4 September 1705, Father John John, 21 July 1704, Father John Dan. , 24 August 1701 ( as you had) Father John, Mother Eliz
Cant find Thomas's baptism

Thanks Trish, I have Thomas as christened in Luton on 14 July 1703. Also there were three earlier children christened in Luton, namely Martha (17 Oct 1799), John ( 14 Sep 1697 - presumably died young) and Elizabeth (29 July 1695 - buried 10 Aug 1697). I obtained these data from a transcript of the register held in Luton Library. It seems therefore that the John, son of Charles and Frances, whom you told me about would have married too late and not been old enough to have sired this family. Roy.

Thank you, John P. The information about the John Taylor who died in 1732 is very interesting but I cannot as yet connect him to my family. In fact it complicates the matter.
