BRAWN of Bridgnorth
« on: Saturday 25 April 09 19:40 UTC (UK) »

Hello all.

My great great great granddad is Edwin Brawn. He was a butcher in Wolverhampton (Lichfield Street) until his early death in 1849. His wife, Elizabeth (nee Hall), was from Bridgnorth. I'm pretty sure Edwin was from Bridgnorth too. Was confuses matters a bit is that Edwin occasionally appears as Edward; some trade directories he is Edward and his death certificate is Edward. However, he's Edwin in the 1841 census and some trade directories.

The only marriage I can find between Edwin/Edward Brawn and Elizabeth Hall is in Claverley in 1833. I'm pretty sure this is correct.

The only baptism I've come across of an Edwin Brawn is in Bridgnorth (16 Aug 1807, St Leonards). His father is James and mother Anne. Although this seems likely, I'm not 100% sure.

If anyone can help or is researching the BRAWN name in Wolverhampton or Bridgnorth I'd like to hear from you. Brawn is quite a rare name, but Bridgnorth is a bit of a hot spot!
