Peterej and Wilcoxon
Thanks for this information - the Mortimer Maurice born in 1808 and baptised in 1809 was a son of Samuel Maurice and Theodosia Bache and I am so sure that they are linked to my Maurice line simply by the fact that this boy was named Mortimer. Both names are not very common, and this boy was baptised in Stockport, the Maurice's seemed to have a group of them in Bridgnorth which is not too far from Stockport -  I know my Mortimer was involved with a congregation there something to do with the dissenting church he belonged to.
I was also interested to read that his son-in-law was a doctor as my Maurice family was bristling with doctors.
There is also a Maurice family in Norfolk or Suffolk, I know there is a well-known writer named Frederick Deniston Maurice (something like that), his mother was a Miss Hurry, and that family were also of the dissenting type of church at the same time.
I was interested to read of the Vron Coal Mine, how forward-thinking to plan a submarine tunnel back then, shame aobut the bankruptcy.
I have gone aorund in circles trying to link the Mortimer of 1808/9 with my Maurice line, the Bache line of his mother's appears to be quite a prominent family.
Thanks for the info,
Robin

Hello, I've just read your message about Mortimer Maurice , I'm related to the other one!

Mary Anne Marsden is my 4 x great Aunt, who married Mortimer Maurice in 1835 in Bolton.

I would love to know where Celia found the marriage of their eldest daughter Emily born 1837 in Brussels - I've been looking for her for a while. If I can give you any help I will, including trying to find where the 2 x Mortimers are actually related.

Best wishes

Pat,
I would guess you could email Celia offline to ask her where she came by the information about Emily.
I would love to know how the two Mortimer's are linked.
I did see on the IGI that Samuel Maurice (born 1773) who married Theodosia Bache was a son of Joel Maurice (born 1738, of Fishguard) and Mary Keen.
Joel was a son of William Maurice (born 1693 Carmarthen) and Elizabeth Perkins.
I know you would have all this information.
I do wonder if Joseph Maurice born in 1762 (father of my Mortimer) was a son of Joel Maurice born in 1738.
Maybe he was his cousin and he was a grandson of William born in 1693.
If you do come upon any information I would love to have it.
There is a Maurice family of Lloran wherever or whatever that is.
Thanks for your reply

Welsh Wills online.
There are many Maurice wills on here, perhaps some will be useful.

Hi,

Thank you for your reply - I'll do as you suggested, and if I find the link between the two Maurices I'll let you know.

Best wishes
