I would very much appreciate a look-up for Elizabeth KIDDY in 1861 in Belper.
Elizabeth should be aged about 87 and I am interested to know where she is living and who she is living with.

Hi Forest
Have you got her on any earlier census's as carnt see her in Belper at that age.
Only two that I can see, one born 1827 and one born 1828

Thanks for looking Ricky. In that case I don't think I have the right Elizabeth. Her husband was transported many years before and married bigamously in Australia and I haven't been able to trace Elizabeth after his transportation. Having found a death for Elizabeth Kiddy in Belper in the early 1860s, I thought she just might have reverted to her maiden name.

Kiddy was her maiden name. Her married name was Wigley.
I have a Removal Order for her and her children from Belper to Heage in 1809 but the Derbyshire Record Office could not find any record of her in their indices of Settlements.
I don't have access to the early censuses but I do have entries for 3 of her 4 sons up to the time of their deaths and she is not with them.
She did have a daughter, also Elizabeth. IGI has two possible marriages for her - to a Joseph Bennett or to a John Price (both Duffield, which covers Belper). There's a chance she is with them although of course she may well have died before 1841!

not having much luck at finding her under Kiddy or Wigley.
there are a couple of deaths for an Elizabeth Wigley reg Belper
one in 1857 and one in 1858, but no age given

Can only assume she did - when the Removal Order to Heage was issued in 1809 she had 5 children under 12. Two of them show up in Ilkeston in 1841, another in Alfreton (later in Belper) and one very speculatively in Ashbourne. Possible marriages for the daughter put her in Belper, so I think it unlikely mum moved off elsewhere.....probably more likely that she died before 1841.
