Hi

Surrey is a large county bordering onto London. It had quite a few orphanages so without a starting point of at least a place if not the name of the orphanage and if it was a church orphanage, a denomination, there really isn't anywhere to begin. It might be best to ask as many questions as possible of the remaining family members to try and clarify any possible further information and the circumstances that arose in Gateshead or Newcastle - two very big places so which was it, that caused them to be sent to Surrey. The starting point for information, if they first went into local authority care or an institution in the north east, may be records there, which would indicate where they were sent to in Surrey.

I think you probably have to do some research in the north east first before you come back to Surrey.

It would appear from freebmd.rootsweb.com and your other posts about the family that the parents were
William Leslie Archer died in 1933
married 1925
Ida Stead (d. Huh)

(Ida M. Archer's birth is also shown on freebmd). This family were in Gateshead (but William may have been born in Newcastle).

(There was also another Archer/Stead family around in Middlesbrough)

The information you really need is, was Ida still living in 1933 when William died, and did she remarry?
