Can anyone shed any light on the whereabouts of the records for the Baptist Chapel at Claxton please? I have enquired at Norfolk Record Office, but they appear to have none. I understand that there was a burial ground attached to it, & am wondering whether there are any gravestones remaining, in the absence of any registers? I been able to find out, on the internet, that it has been converted into a private dwelling, also used as an opera house from time to time, but not much else.
Any information would be appreciated, thank you.

My kind of place

I am not surprised the record office had none, from my own experience the Baptists did not seem to keep records unlike other denominations

Hi patrish
Yes, I have had problems with them before too.
Whilst I can understand why Baptists may not have kept records of births, given that they had a burial gound at this chapel, I would have thought they would have been under some obligation to keep a record of who was there?
I guess they never gave any consideration to our resarch efforts!
